Unfreeze

Cookie Policy

Last updated: July 2026

Short version: Unfreeze doesn't use cookies. It uses your browser's local storage to save your data on your own device, which is what makes the app work at all. Nothing here is used for tracking, advertising, or analytics.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small files a website can ask your browser to store, usually to remember who you are across visits or to track behaviour for analytics and advertising. "Local storage" is a similar browser feature, but it's not automatically sent to a server on every request the way cookies are — it just sits in your browser until the site (or you) clears it.

Cookies we use

None. Unfreeze's own pages don't set any cookies at all.

Local storage we use

These are strictly necessary — the app can't function without them, since they are the app's core feature (saving your data on your device instead of on a server):

NamePurpose
unfreeze_planner_v1Stores your debts, income, expenses, savings, and settings, so they're there when you come back.
unfreeze_last_viewRemembers which tab (Dashboard, Debts, Budget, etc.) you were last on.

Because these are strictly necessary for the service you're using (not for tracking, marketing, or analytics), UK PECR rules don't require us to ask your permission for them — only to tell you about them, which this page does. You can clear them any time via your browser's settings, or with the Reset button inside Unfreeze.

Third-party resources

Loading any web page involves your browser fetching resources directly from wherever they're hosted. Unfreeze loads a few things from third parties:

These requests can expose basic technical information (like your IP address) to those providers, the same way any request to any server does — this isn't something Unfreeze controls or receives itself. Stripe's checkout page sets its own cookies under its own policy once you're there; see Stripe's Cookie Policy for details.

How to control this

You're always in control:

See also the Privacy Policy for how your data is handled more broadly, and Stripe's own policies for anything that happens on their checkout page.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
